About AMSC Windtec, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMSC
AMSC Windtec GmbH — A history of innovation in wind energy development
Following nearly a decade of wind power development and commissioning work by its founder, Windtec was founded in 1995 in Klagenfurt, Austria and has grown to become one of the world’s leading wind turbine engineering organizations. AMSC Windtec’s platforms range from 600 kW land-based wind turbines to 10 MW SeaTitan™ wind turbines for the offshore market. In addition to its proprietary wind turbine designs, the organization develops and provides wind turbine electrical control systems for more than a dozen companies worldwide. AMSC Windtec became a wholly owned subsidiary of American Superconductor in early 2007.
AMSC Windtec helps customers “Build Your Own Wind Turbine.” The organization provides complete, customer-specific designs for highly reliable and highly efficient wind turbines and works side by side with its customers through the manufacturing start-up and scale-up process. Today, AMSC Windtec’s technology transfer model is being adopted by customers around the world, and the organization continues to innovate new proprietary products that provide a competitive advantage in the wind turbine market.
